How we handle your data — in plain language.
Last updated: July 2026
What we collect
When you create an account we store your email and (optionally) your name. As you learn, we keep minimal, privacy-respecting usage signals (which lessons you view, whether code ran, and the questions you ask Prova) to improve the content — retained for a limited period, never sold. Please don't paste personal or confidential details into a Prova question.
Analytics & cookies
Essential cookies remember your sign-in, theme, and language. For usage insight we use privacy-respecting, cookieless, first-party analytics that don't profile you or follow you across other sites. We don't run advertising or third-party cross-site trackers. Any content-feedback signals ("Was this helpful?") are anonymous and not tied to a durable identifier.
AI features (Prova)
Our AI tutor, Prova, sends the questions you ask — and, if you use the Prova workspace, the code you share or the non-identifying shape of your data (column names and types, never your actual rows) — to our AI providers: Anthropic, which writes the answer, and OpenAI, which finds the most relevant parts of our lessons. Both receive the text you send; we send only what's needed to respond, neither uses it to train their models, and we never sell it. Treat anything you paste into Prova as you would sharing it with a third-party service.
Some of our providers (payments, AI, hosting) process data outside your country, including in the United States, so using Datanovia can involve international data transfers; we choose providers that offer standard data-protection terms. Datanovia is a learning platform intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16.
Payments
Subscriptions are handled by a Merchant-of-Record payment provider. Your card details are entered with them, not us — Datanovia never sees or stores your full payment information.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data by emailing contact@datanovia.com, and we'll action your request. If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, the GDPR gives you these rights, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Data security & retention
We protect your data with industry-standard safeguards and keep it only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations.
